No matter where you go in the world there’s nothing as warming as a friendly welcome and you can expect nothing less if you’re a visitor at Anvershiel House in Portrush on the North Coast because Alan and Janice Thompson epitomise Northern Irish hospitality.
And not only that but it’s so easy to find because it’s known as ‘the yellow house with flags’ as mentioned Rick Steves’ guide ‘Ireland’ and also in the Lonely Planet accommodation guide.
Anvershiel House, which is on the Coleraine Road, is a fabulous B&B which welcomes guests from all around the world and so celebrates their nationalities by flying some flags outside the property. It’s a known landmark because of this and is undoubtedly a popular place to stay for people coming to the North Coast for the Vauxhall International North West 200, the Portrush Raft Race, Airwaves Portrush and major golfing tournaments among other top class events.
And of course being a stone’s throw away from the popular West Strand Beach, this is a popular B&B all year round. And with a wealth of land, water and air based activities, fantastic restaurants and tearooms around, visitors are spoiled for choice. To top it off, you’ll find yourself on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline.
If you are planning a holiday with your family or friends Anvershiel House is perfect. It’s a traditional B&B which retains its 1930s features but this is a B&B which has a contemporary style where you can enjoy modern amenities, free off-street parking and a high speed wifi. The couple bought it in 2015 and have totally refurbished the entire inside to ensure comfort and modern facilities for guests.
The rooms are contemporary and generous and with so much delicious local produce available locally, you will soon learn why Anvershiel House is well known for its delicious breakfasts.
This is a very popular B&B so definitely book ahead. But you can also call Janice or Alan to discuss special group rates or off-peak rates. Enjoy your stay on our North Coast. You will go away with a great story to share. Have a browse around our website to see some of the things there are to do and places to eat while you are staying on the coast.
