Caledon in County Tyrone is a Georgian village just seven miles from the Georgian city of Armagh – Ireland’s ecclesiastical capital.
Caledon and Armagh both attract their fair share of tourists. With Caledon’s Main Street, lined with Georgian style houses and an old courthouse, and Armagh’s famous historic city centre, with its two Cathedrals and its famous Mall, the village and city are both well worth exploring.
Allens of Caledon is a family run tearoom which is at the heart of village life and is a hub for the groups of cyclists, locals and tourists who go through the village every day. This beautiful Georgian tearoom, which is open all day, is a perfect place for breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas. With its own furniture department and household craft shop, it attracts people from far and wide.
The smell of fresh baking every day would do your heart good as staff bake everything from scratch every day. Customers can choose from a range of cooked food, home made tray bakes and cakes to enjoy with a variety of coffees, teas and cold drinks and ice creams.
This tearoom has previously hosted the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Charles and Camilla. The village is also well known for being the home of the Seventh Earl of Caledon, Nicholas James Alexander and his wife Lady Amanda Caledon.
And just seven miles into Armagh city there’s Allens of Armagh. The popular household brand has built up a huge following over the years and so Eloise expanded to open Allens in Armagh city in 2016.
Close to the Palace Demense, a short walk from the famous Mall and Planetarium and the city’s two famous Cathedrals, this is a popular spot for people who love chilling in a tearoom and who love exploring this world renowned Cathedral city.
Right on the corner of Dobbins Street there is ample car parking space, an ATM, free Wifi, a spacious tearoom and a fabulous clothes and household space beneath the tearoom.
