Hostel Connect

Derry city is home to the famous Bogside Murals, the Bloody Sunday conflict, Waterloo Square, the Peace Bridge, paddle boarding on the River Foyle, long board city tours, a fantastic nightlife and a great calendar of events.

So if you want a central, funky place to stay, Hostel Connect is the place for you.

Hostel Connect is located on the Strand Road which the main through fare and bus route of the city. The hostel is literally 2 -5 minutes from the famous historic walls dating back to 1601, the Bogside area which is home to the famous Bogside Murals and Waterloo Square where many of the bars are located.

Live It Experience It, a tourism cluster in Northern Ireland, was delighted when the editor of the Cornish Guardian wrote a feature of Derry for us.

Hostel Connect is perfect for the individual traveller, groups of people touring together and friends who come to the city for a night out.

There are 10 bedrooms consisting of two large mixed dorms; a nine bed dorm, one six bed female only dorm; one six bed mixed dorm; one private family room (double and triple bunk) and three private double rooms (double bed); and one twin room (two single beds).

Each room has been named the colour it has been painted.

The owners, Jonny and Tommy, have lovingly brought back the original wooden floors throughout most of the hostel adding a great ambiance. The hostel also boasts and huge common room where you can chill and hang out on sofas and watch TV or movies on the large screen TV. This is specifically located this on the top floor and in its own wing of the building so you won’t be disturbed or won’t disturb other guests. The guys also plan plenty of music nights and pub crawls to keep you occupied as well.

The hostel also has a good size kitchen and dining area (open 7am -10:30pm) on the first floor. There are six separate shower rooms (electric so you’ll never run out of hot water) – three on each floor. And unlike many other hostels, Hostel Connect offers a free continental breakfast with each night stay, free wifi throughout the hostel and smiles are always free.

Hostel Connect’s aim is to provide budget-orientated sociable accommodation where guests can stay and enjoy the ‘craic’ in Derry in a safe, clean and fun environment.

Our check-in is between 3pm and 8pm and our reception closes at 10pm. If you are arriving later than 8pm, you MUST inform the hostel by email (rooms@hostelconnect.co.uk) or telephone (+44 (0)28 71372101). Failure to do so will result in you being possibly refused entry and being charged for the night.
