From the smaller towns of Magherafelt and Portstewart to the 17th century city walls of Derry / Londonderry, this county is a force to be reckoned with. The history steeped in this county is formidable. The highest point is the summit of Sawel Mountain (678m) which is part of the Sperrin Mountain range. Derry-Londonderry (also known as Legenderry) is a fantastic place.
There are lively pubs in the city, a thriving music scene throughout the county, it’s a place of cultural revival, the Bogside murals, the Peace Bridge and more. The city’s history, its city walls, spectacular views of the Atlantic, its bird sanctuaries, old growth deciduous forests at Banagher and Ness Wood, waterfalls and much more will give you an experience to remember.
