County Tyrone is a place which has all the ingredients to give our visitors a great experience whether you live in Northern Ireland and are day tripping, whether you are visiting from the South or indeed coming in from overseas on a longer vacation.
In the heart of Tyrone is a village called Moygashel where flax growing and linen spinning have been taking place since the early 17th Century. This is a place which lay in disrepair for many years but has since been rejuvenated to reconnect the place with its roots to the linen industry in Ireland.
The Linen Green is a shopping outlet which attracts people from all over. Local people shop here but it also attracts coach loads of tourists travelling to experience what’s on offer.
It’s not just a place for coffee and cake – it’s so much more and one business which stands out from the crowd is Bumble & Blue which opened up at the shopping village in August 2018.
Bumble & Blue is just fantastic and we fell in love with it as soon as we walked through the door. The smell of candle making, soap making and a log fire burning makes this place something really special.
This is a large retail space where you can buy the beautiful gifts on display. And, what makes Bumble & Blue really special is its owner Gemma Donnelly who has created a vibrant workshop and gallery where you can do candle making workshops, you can learn to make your own soap, children can have fun at slime making workshops while parents can enjoy a coffee, seasonal wreath making workshops and arm knitting workshops.
It’s a beautifully decorated large space for corporates, for networking workshops, group parties, special occasions while combining some of the wonderful activities which take place here.
Gemma, who is a mum of four and lives locally, is an ambitious businesswoman who works with passion, she thinks outside the box and enjoys warmly welcoming groups of tourists or day shoppers through the doors.
Gemma makes natural, good for you and good for the environment candles using natural vegetable wax for candles. Her range of soaps are vegetable based also. She also makes room scents and has a great love for interiors and her style is very unique.
Bumble & Blue is an interactive shopping experience and in 2019 Gemma aspires to open up her space to other craftspeople who would like to come along and share their skills with an audience through workshops, exhibitions or talks.
As soon as you walk through the door you see immediately the draw to Bumble & Blue – it’s such a great addition to The Linen Green and to County Tyrone as a destination. There’s so much energy in this business and Gemma has an amazing story as to how she found herself her which we will be sharing with you. Check out Bumble & Blue Online where you can purchase items and book workshops.
