Chef Dean Coppard

Promoting local food, challenging taste buds, championing small and large scale producers and promoting quality local and sustainably produced food is top of the agenda for Dean Coppard – a food ambassador, brand ambassador and mentoring chef.

Dean moved from Sydney, Australia in 2005, to County Armagh, Ireland’s ecclesiastical capital.

Having spent years as an established restaurateur and chef mentor he quickly became a household name in food and drink circles North and South of Ireland, while pairing food and drink using the wealth of local food and drink producers we have here.

Since 2005, he has pushed the boundaries to create culinary masterpieces while crafting fine and casual dining experiences in restaurants and pubs.

As a firm favourite food demonstrator at small and large food fairs and festivals right across Northern Ireland the occasional TV chef personality also showcases his talents and local producers on a national TV network where the Irish audience get to learn from his flavours and flair for good food.

And while he encourages other chefs to use seasonal forgotten foods he is also an advocate of trying all things new and in 2016 set up the Urban Growing Company enabling him to harvest his own micro herbs and salad leaves which are now being used in kitchens, farm shops and artisan markets around Northern Ireland.

Dean has spent his time in Northern Ireland forging new relationships between chefs and producers, creating important foundations on food diversity and mentoring young chefs up through the ranks while preparing them for food industry competitions. He has brought many young chefs to top culinary events and has trained chefs to cook with authenticity.

Dean, a husband, father and keen surfer, also enjoys being outdoors with his family, foraging, camping and being part of new adventures.

"Guys, I am delighted to be a part of Live It Experience because Northern Ireland is such a fantastic place to live and visit. My Aussie relatives love it. We need to celebrate what we can offer. Food and drink is just one thing we can shout about. I am delighted to be a part of the Live It Experience It story and look forward to working with other chefs, producers and activity providers. There's no reason why we can't all work together."
