The Galley Annalong

We all know the Mournes is an area of Northern Ireland which is so special. Situated at the foot of the Mourne Mountains is the beautiful seaside village of Annalong.

This picturesque fishing village has the most beautiful coastal and mountainous views, the most stunning landscapes and it fishing, farming and quarrying have been key industries for the village’s heritage.

One restaurant which truly demonstrates the fishing heritage of the area, and must not be passed by, is The Galley Annalong.

Since 1990, visitors and locals in Annalong have been relishing in the taste of the area.

The Galley has been serving the community with succulent produce which is sourced as locally as possible. This is a restaurant which takes its environmental responsibilities seriously.

Owners Joey and Aileen believe that quality comes first every time and they insist that the ingredients used are of the highest quality.

The fish and chicken are cut and potatoes are chipped every morning.

All of the seafood comes from sustainable and well managed fisheries. Fish is purchased from fish trawlers which are part of the Responsible Fishing Scheme and that are MSC certified. This means fish caught are neither endangered nor threatened and they are fished legally within the required regulations and quotas. Our fish is expertly filleted and cooked fresh every morning.

All chicken cooked in The Galley is brought in fresh every day from Lynas Food Service, Coleraine and is prepared and cooked fresh every morning. All chicken dishes are cooked from 100 per cent pure chicken fillets. No processed meat or chicken is used.

All meat is purchased from Nicholson’s Family Butchers in Kilkeel and it is all locally produced.

As well as that, all eggs are purchased locally from Riverlodge Farm, Glassdrumman.

And the baked products are simply delicious. All wheaten bread, scones, desserts and traybakes are made on the premises by our expert in-house bakers.

Cooking top quality food for customers is what The Galley is all about.  They even go as far as catching their own crab to give customers the freshest tastiest crab meat available to purchase to take-away.

No visit to the Mourne Area is complete without eating in this award winning restaurant.

Sit in or take away – you are in for a tasty treat!
