The Arcadia Café

You can’t get any more iconic than The Arcadia in Portrush – a building which stuns people architecturally and historically.

What was once a famous ballroom subsequently became a successful entertainment venue with many iconic musicians taking to the stage over the years including The Stranglers, The Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers, Ian Dury and The Blockheads.

Built in the 1920s by local businessman, RA Chalmers, The Arcadia was originally designed as a cafe and so very fittingly, that’s exactly what it is today with a lot more on offer as well and with 2017 seeing a new wave of regeneration work being carried out this is one building that continues to make its mark.

The Arcadia Café in Portrush, Co Antrim is located right next to the East Strand and is just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre. Serving up a range of delicious local produce, the café is renowned for its Polish breakfast and also serves up smoothies, quality gourmet coffee and has a fantastic kids’ menu.

Diners can tuck into breakfast, lunch or tasty snacks, including freshly baked cakes and tray bakes, while The Supper Club offers large group dining with experienced local chefs. The Arcadia is more than a café however – it has an airy upstairs gallery which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and regularly exhibits local artwork. Not only that but couples choose this iconic location as their wedding venue, families and friends host private parties and well being classes are held in the beautiful studio space above the cafe.

This is the perfect location for;

  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Thai Chi
  • Zumba classes

These classes are held in this bright and airy space throughout the year.

The Arcadia Café is a firm favourite for many people. It’s a perfect meeting place for families and friends with a children’s play park and paddling pools just outside the door. The popular Ladies’ Beach is also conveniently located beside The Arcadia on the opposite side, with a clean sandy space for enjoying the water.

Catering for events is available and with such a wealth of local produce from our stunning North Coast, you will be delighted with what will be on offer.

"The view from this iconic building is stunning which is one of the reasons I love holding our well being classes here. People love it. They feel so relaxed. That too goes for weddings. This venue is pretty special and holds a story for many people. And with our cafe downstairs we can offer visitors a great experience. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates."
