Taste Causeway to welcome Flip and Rob

‘Taste Causeway’ is a new event from Causeway Coast & Glens and two Live It Experience It members will be taking part in this nine day culinary celebration of the Causeway Coast – Flip Robinson of Giant Tours Ireland and Chef Rob Curley of the Slemish Market Supper Club
He’s a well known figure on the Causeway Coast for his famous tours with Giant Tours Ireland but also for his good fortune of being selected to be a stand in actor on Game of Thrones® for the major characters of Hodor and The Mountain.
Game Of Thrones will return for its eighth and final series in April next year as HBO has just confirmed in a new teaser trailer for the show.
It’s all very exciting for Thrones fans, so, when Causeway Coast & Glens announced ‘Taste Causeway’ – a nine day culinary celebration to showcase the vibrant restaurant scene as well as the wide range of superb local produce which the area has to offer, it was fantastic to hear that Flip will be the Guest of Honour at the event in Tartine at Distillers Arms in Bushmills this Friday – November 16 at 7pm.
And not only is Flip going to be entertaining that night, but over in Harry’s Restaurant in Cushendall, Chef Robert Curley of the Slemish Market Supper Club will be plating up the dish which was his entry in last week’s World Tapas Championships in Valladolid in Spain.
So, what can visitor’s expect?
The ‘Tartine meets Game of Thrones’ will be a magical celebration of the Causeway when Flip Robinson will join in the celebrations which includes a delicious themed menu, live traditional music, Thrones themed cocktails in a medieval decor. Guests will enjoy an open log fire and can have loads of fun in the popular Game of Thrones photobooth.
While in Cushendall, Rob will present ‘Miniature Cooking’ which is a collaboration of County Antrim and Basque Cuisine with his close friend and chef, Gorka Arrieta. This will be a 10 course meal of exquisite Miniature Cooking using produce of the Causeway Coast and Glens and the Slemish Market Garden.
Speaking ahead of his event in Harry’s Restaurant, Chef Rob Curley, speaking from the World Tapas Championships in Spain, said: “Our night in Harry’s Restaurant will be a fantastic experience so I am delighted to be joined by my friend Chef Gorka Arietta.
Other events have been taking place along the Causeway in Portstewart, Portrush, Portballintrae, Coleraine, Limavady and Ballycastle. These are all themed nights consisting of cookery classes, food tours, taster menus and opportunities to ‘meet the maker’. Chefs will be using fresh local seasonal produce which will be complimented by fine wines and artisan ales.
